Question- how to test or dx infrequent ovulation in PCOS?

Hello! From listening to Ep 3 of the podcast, I learned/understand that a diagnosis of PCOS should include 1. symptoms of androgen excess, 2. infrequent ovulation, and/or 3. the rule out of other reasons for androgen excess. I am now curious about what the definition or parameters to use for "infrequent ovulation", and how we can test or diagnose this? Are the only ways to diagnose infrequent ovulation to have the patient/person self-track their ovulation via cervical mucus and/or BBT or are there other ways to identify ovulation patterns for this purpose? I am also curious about ovarian size, which is something I have seen in midwifery textbooks as another diagnostic criteria option for PCOS. Thank you!
