Teen Periods

Hi I am a mother of a 15 year old who has had her cycle for 2years now. Background story is that she got her first period at 13. Started light and didn't last long. She got it a week later and the same story. The next month she got it, it was heavy and did not stop for 3 months. Her pediatrician sent her for an ultrasound and we were referred to a gynecologist. By the time we saw the gynecologist due to the long wait list she had stopped. Apparently longer bleeds are normal for the first couple of years whilst everything is adjusting. Fast forward to now and she is having another cycle that seems to not want to stop. It is heavy and has clots. Her pediatrician has given her tranexamic acid which does help but as soon as she stops taking it because the flow looks like it has ended...it comes back next day heavy again. She is now very low in iron.
Question is do I put her on a pill? I am very wary of the pill as I was put on it at 13 to help regulate my cycle as I had very heavy and lots of clots. I am now 36 with a lot of hormonal issues that look like pcos. Any advice would be muchly appreciated.
