10 year window to start HRT

Hi all,
I have been in menopause since I was 42 and I am now 53. My GP said at the time that I did not need HRT as I had no symptoms. He now says that guidelines (in the UK) have changed and he thinks I should take HRT for long term health benefits. However after reading the hormone repair manual book I don’t think I should do it as it is more than 10 years. Could you help me make a decision?
