When is high FSH and LH not menopause?

Hi,
I recently had a blood test that returned my FSH as 72 and my LH 35.5 with a casual email from the Dr saying it looks like I am potentially post menopausal.
I am 45 years old, have had a partial hysterectomy at 41 - keeping ovaries due to endo and adeno, diagnosed with PTSD so I know these things can mean earlier onset of menopause but 45 still feels very young.
I also understand that menopause is the year after your last period + high FSH reading. I used to track my cycles with ovulation thermometer but stopped that mid last year when thermometer battery died. I have been on bio-identical progesterone for a couple of years (from compound lab) and recently started ovestin cream.
A couple of questions - will the HRT affect my basal body temp in morning - is it worth still using this method to see if I am cycling? If not how can I confirm that I have reached menopause? And should I be worried/trying to ovulate for longer?
How long can we ladies continue with HRT?
Thanks so much
