PCOS - Metformin and inflammatory PCOS

Dear Lara and everyone,
I was diagnosed of PCOS some years ago (I meet all the criteria), and since two years I can be in amenorrhea for very large periods of time (6,7 or more months). According to a blood test done in a random day because I have no cycle, an endocrinologist told me to take metformin. This are the values of some parameters:
- VSG: 33mm
- Insuline: 4,36µM/mL
- HOMA-B Test: 151,57%
- Glucose: 74mg/100mL
- Androstendione: 4,1ng/mL
With these marks, which is your opinion about taking metformin? Would barberine be best in my case? (Testosterone and HOMA-A Test are okay)
I am doubting about taking an anti-diabetic if my insuline levels are okay, and also because I am afraid about how can my body react in case I stop taking it someday (rebound effect).
Also, because of the VSG levels I conclude that maybe I have inflammatory PCOS. Do you think it could be?
