Does BioIdentical mP4 protect the uterus from Endometrial Hyperplasia?

Post by j_lipinski »

Is it true that there are no studies proving the efficacy of Bioidentical mP4 to protect the uterine lining from hypertrophy when used for Menopausal Hormone Therapy in conjunction with topical bioidentical oestrogen?

If these studies do indeed exist, please would you share the links.
Thanks

Oral micronised progesterone is well-established as providing sufficient endometrial protection. That's why Prometrium is now the standard recommendation.

Here are some of the big studies that looked at OMP as the progestogen part of MHT:

- Schierbeck LL, et al. Effect of hormone replacement therapy on cardiovascular events in recently postmenopausal women: randomised trial. BMJ. 2012; 345: e6409: 1-11.
- Miller VM, et al. The Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS): what have we learned? Menopause. 2019; 26(9): 000-000. DOI: 10.1097/GME.0000000000001326.
- Fournier A, et al. Unequal risk for breast cancer associated with different hormone replacement therapies: results from the E3N cohort study. Breast Cancer Res Treat. 2008; 107(1): 103-111.
