Teenage Daughters Painful Periods
Hi, my 15 year old daughter soon to be 16 has been having very painful periods for the last 6 months and at times being sick, she is missing days off school and her current cycle has come a week early. She has taken pain killers and being uncomfortable but ok and on the 3rd day she has had piercing pain, was sick and curled up in pain. She wants to go on the pill as she belives that will stop the pain and am at abit of a loss. Have asked for her to have blood tests to see if that shows up anything. Have tried magnesium supplements and fish oils but she doesn't take them regulary. She was allergic to diary as a baby and now tolerates it but generally avoids it but wonder if that may also be having an affect. Any advice that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Regards Julie

In my experience, a childhood history of dairy sensitivity strongly suggests that dairy sensitivity could now be playing a role in period symptoms, especially pain. That's true even if the original dairy sensitivity symptoms were outgrown. See my podcast: "What’s the Story With Dairy and Period Problems?"
