Definition of menopause

Post by Rona »

Hi there,

I am 47 year and I am tracking my cycles.
I am now on CD70 & had a bleeding from CD63 till now but it was not a period as there was no ovulation.

When we say that menopause starts 12 months after the last period. Do we refer to period as ANY type of bleeding or just to bleeding that comes after ovulation?

Also, when we say that the 3rd phase starts when we have a 60 days cycle or longer, do we refer to it only as in ovulatory cycle or even if I had a bleeding with no ovulation it still counts as a period and a new cycle?

In general, menopause is defined as 12 months after the final uterine bleed, even if that bleed was anovulatory.
