Spotting and on Utrogestan and Mirena

Post by Han308 »

Hi,
I fought with my gp to change from synthetic progestin to the Utrogestan. I was feeling so hopeful! I already have the Mirena.. with history of endo and now adenomyosis. I feel better on the progesterone with moods, sleep, no pain but I'm always spotting! I get a break for 10 days, now I'm on 15 days of spotting, it's making me tired.
I'm on my 2nd month(13 Aug started) of Utrogestan 100mg, once every night, non stop taking it.

What could be wrong, upsetting my body still?
Ps. Had the same spotting issues on Mirena only, but with pain and bad moods..
Thanks
Hannah

To thin the uterine lining, many women in perimenopause may find they actually need to take progesterone (Utrogestan or Prometrium) at a higher dose of 200 or 300 mg and continuously for a few months. Even then, they make get some spotting or breakthrough bleeding, which should ease over time. If you're in New Zealand, you'll be happy to know that Utrogestan will be funded from December 1st.
