Estrogen and total cholesterol

Post by Theworld »

Hello and thank you for having me on this forum,
I am enjoying listening to the podcasts—my question is the following: I would like to know more about the connection between drops in estrogen and the rise in total cholesterol? I have, over the years, had the tendency of having my LDL on the high end—it is in my family—despite my watching my diet. I am in menopause. And according to US standards, I am borderline pre-diabetic. I am not overweight and exercise almost daily for 50 minutes, I stand for long periods of time and burn an average of 450-500 calories each day.
Is menopause making things worse for me?
Any words of wisdom, I would appreciate very much.
Many thanks
Magali

Menopause increases the risk of insulin resistance (pre-diabetes) and the cholesterol changes that can be downstream from that. I discuss in my book Hormone Repair Manual and my new book on metabolic health, coming in May 2024.
