Menopause and Hashimoto's

Post by Rachel »

I had my last period 18 months ago, and have had continuing symptoms of hot flushes, disturbed sleep, brain fog, migraines, low mood, constipation and fatigue.

I tried oestrogen gel and Prometrium and found that the gel made me feel very anxious after one dose. The progesterone has been helpful and helps me sleep and feel generally calmer so I have been taking that daily now for 25 days.

Now I've also been diagnosed with Hashimoto's (elevated TSH, low end of normal T4 and high antibodies), and prescribed thyroxin and vaginal oestrogen by my new GP, as well as progesterone.

I'm wondering though whether I should try just the thyroxin for a while and see if that helps my symptoms, or introduce the thyroxin and continue the progesterone, or go for all 3 at once (thyroxin, vaginal oestrogen and progesterone)?
