Minimum carbohydrate grams for ovulation

Post by KimberleyMYN »

Hey Lara, I specialise in helping women stop restrictive dieting so they can have healthy menstrual cycles and I attended one of your seminars 3 years ago. You mentioned a study around carbohydrates, suggesting women need a minimum of 100g per day. But then you said it was just one study. In terms of carbohydrate minimums for getting a period, is this 100g still what you would suggest? Is there any more research on this I can use to educate my carb phobic female clients?

Hi Kimberly,

I don't have any updated stats for you, unfortunately. But it does seem to vary a lot between women and according to gynecological age. ie. younger women are more likely to lose their period to a low-carb diet. See my updated blog post about it.
