Folate as L-5-MTHF and Genetic Mutations

Post by BB72 »

Genetics test shows I have MTHFR(CC), MTRR(GG), COMT(GG) mutations. Thoughts on supplementing w/ Folate as L-5-MTHF?

Nutritionist suggested Folate 800mcg DFE (all as Quatrefolic® (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, glucosamine salt) which I'd be adding to my current B Complex which includes 334mcg DFE Folate (200mcg s L-5-Metyletrahdrofolate from L-5-Methylttrahydrofolic Acid Glucosamine Salt).

Also suggested I add active B12 1000mcg (80% as methylcobalamin & 20% as adenosylcobalamin) and current B complex already includes 100mcg B12 as methylcobalamin. (I believe you generally recco 500-1000mcg B12 as methylcobalmin.)

Have read mixed info online re: dose precautions & potential side effects re: L-5-MTHF. Would love to know your experience w/ it & thoughts, as I've taken a lot of other great guidance from your Hormone Repair Manual and greatly appreciate your wisdom.
