Progesterone and no period

Post by Thalia-28 »

Hi all,
I have been only on progesterone only therapy 200mg everyday, age 47 and I wanted to help with sleep and mood. My periods used to be regular but now I have missed a period. Is this normal? I am not pregnant, just perimenopause. Should I get off progesterone to get my period back?

Daily progesterone can suppress ovulation and alter cycle length.
Which is why it's usually dosed cyclically during the luteal phase but of course, talk to your doctor.

Thank you DrLara. I have your book on my phone and read it often. My doctor did prescribe daily for insomnia, but do you think it’s best not to suppress ovulation and go to cyclical?
