B6 Toxicity

Post by Alison_Kay »

I've just finished this fabulous book. Thank you for making menopause so clear. I have a question about B6. Levels much lower than your suggested 300mg have been shown to produce neuropathy symptoms. I'm worried about causing myself harm. What are your views on this? Thanks.

300mg is too much! I don't see anywhere in the book that suggests that. Every reference I saw always had an upper limit of 150mg per day. Where are you seeing 300 mg?

300 mg is too much B6. I do list 150 as an upper limit in the book but, based on the new safety data, I have since revised my recommendation to 30 to 60 mg and only during the luteal phase. See my vitamin B6 blog post.
