ovulation spotting

After several years of amenorhoea post having children, the gp described one round of progesterorne to kick start my cycle. i am mid 30s and history of being underweight. i had one period and then a natural period which was late, followed by some bleeding two weeks later (light and for a day). he thinks this is ovulation bleeding. is that more common after such a disruption to the cycles over the years? Anything to regulate my cycles?
