Annovera Ring?

I have two questions related to the reusable, yearly Annovera Ring which my 18 year old daughter is using to regulate periods and control acne. (She does not require birth control at this time.)

1) Is it considered the same as NuvaRing as far as recommendations from The Period Repair Manual?

2) What would the effect be of leaving it in (taking it out to clean only) for the entire year while one travels?
