Every other day pill?

I'm not sexually active and therefore not needing to prevent pregnancy. With that being said, if I take the birth control pill every other day instead of everyday, would that cause any harm? (I've actually been doing it for several months). My thought was that I'd be putting less of a bad thing in my body but I don't know if it's better to take it the way it's supposed to be taken or not take it at all versus doing it halfway?
