Ovulation pain twice in one week - Perimenopause

Post by kizzylongstocking »

I am so confused and looking for more info if at all possible. I am a (very nearly) 48 year old. I had no period in December which is unusual for me. Last week I had severe ovulation pain and exactly a week later - today- the same ovulation pain again. I have had ovulation pain on and off throughout my life (especially in my teens) and it has in recent years been more severe when it happens. Other issues in December were that my skin was very dry and I was super anxious to the point that I had to take time off work. My GP tried to give me anti-depressants when I asked for a sick note for work.
Now I am just feeling super angry all the time. Possibly night sweats.
I went to see a nurse at my GP surgery this time last year who prescribed HRT - Oestrogel 0.06% gel and progesterone Micronised 100mg capsules (says one tablet to be taken daily on days 1 to 25 of cycle) but when I saw a private nurse specialist a month later because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go ahead she said this had been a prescription for someone who does not have periods at all. She was unable to prescribe herself and I was too embarrassed to go back to the doctors. As I am not keen on taking any medications and I just left it. No tests have been carried out on me as this is not usual practice where I live.
Up until now I have had periods (lasting usually a couple of days but sometimes more) and the cycle has dropped to about 22-25 days. I struggle to eat a lot of foods now (I seem to react to lots of foods) and my skin is often very dry (not vaginal dryness)
I have been trying to read up about LH maybe causing this double ovulation. Looking for some understanding about what is happening and what to do. If I go to GP they just prescribe HRT and I am not sure I can trust what they are prescribing. Any insight gratefully received as the pain can leave me out of action for a while and requires pain relief its so bad. I appreciate I cannot be given medical/medicine advice - the data given here is purely to explain my journey so far. Thanks in advance!
